The First Look

The first thing I noticed after taking this rifle out of the box was how light it was. I was expecting this rifle to be heavy for its size, I was for sure mistaken. The stock has a nice slim feel to it. The entire rifle feels more like a lightweight shotgun you would hunt grouse with than a rifle. This was a welcome suprise. This is a working rifle and should not be a burden to carry.

To get started, lets first go over some of the features of the Remington 700 CDL Boone & Crocket Rifle.

Starting at the Muzzle. The rifle has a recessed muzzle crown from the factory.

The perfectly fluted barrel is 24" long and right at a #3 contour. Perfect for a hunting rifle. Its light enough to carry up and down mountains, heavy enough to expect outstanding accuracy.

On the Right side of the barrel, Boone & Crockett Club has been nicely lazer engraved.

Caliber Designation on the Left side of the barrel on the barrel boss.

The action is of course the Remington 700. All metalwork is Satin blued, Its not the grainy matte black like seen on the Rem 700 SPS Models.

Looking at the bolt, it has been very nicely jeweled, and the bolt shroud does not have the "J" Lock.

The CDL has the Floorplate which is also Satin Black in color.

Now, lets move to the stock. It is of course laminated wood. Laminated wood is very strong and beautiful. The hard finish is non glare and is historically very tough.

It has a perfectly installed forend tip...........

The recoil pad is the Remington R3 Pad that has been fitted perfectly.

And of course.. Front and rear sling swivels.

The trigger is of course the new Remington X-Mark PRO Trigger. It is set at  a touch over 3 pounds from the factory. There is no creep or overtravel. A very nice trigger.

Remington did a fine job on this rifle. Its fit and finish are excellent. The rifle is proportioned correctly to be a Hunting Mans Rifle, not a Varmit gun or Heavy Barreled Sendaro rifle. With a Suggested retail price nearing $1000.00, Remington has to do something special for that price. I think they nailed it.
